Introduction to Off-Road Driving

Owning a 4×4 is where the fun begins and learning how to get the most out of your vehicle (and yourself) in any condition nature throws your way, is the experience of a lifetime. Don't own a 4x4? Don't worry, because you get to drive one of our Jeeps!

Introduction to Off-Road Driving is geared towards those looking for a fun and exciting experience, with a bit of learning involved. The day starts with a quick classroom session to establish basic principles and driving techniques that help you operate our vehicles. Then, we show you these principles in the vehicle before you begin driving over 1,100 acres of Green Mountain terrain. You’ll tackle everything from mud, to rock, and ravines, along with our man-made obstacles. Everyone doesn't have to drive, and we can mix riders and drivers.

While this class is focused more on the fun aspect of driving a 4x4 up a mountain, you'll learn essential skills preparing to do so which, could be useful some day!

  • Build driving confidence by operating outside your comfort zone, and acquiring new skills.
  • Learn about vehicle dynamics and how to manage the traction of all 4 wheels.
  • Master the art of driving up and down steep slopes while in complete control.
  • Control your vehicle on low traction surfaces and avoid getting stuck.
  • Ask questions of our instructors, they are a wealth of information.
  • This is a unique experience you will never forget!

Mike, a recent driver from Boston said: “What a great experience. I have participated in off-road driving courses before, but nothing like this. The classroom preparation was an added bonus. I learned several useful techniques to handle difficult situations, and had the chance to try them out on the course, which itself was amazing. If all that wasn’t enough, the views from the top of Bolton Valley were remarkable. You’ll see us again next year!”
